Chronicle
layered timeline that visually describes both the continuity and evolution of women's representations across time in Iran.
"Chronicle" is a four-by-eight-foot collage resulting from a year-long study of Iranian art, focusing on feminine representation from the earliest clay figurine, Tappeh Sarab (7000–6100 BCE), to 2024. Spanning 130 images across mediums like sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and films, it chronicles the evolving role of women in Iranian society and art. Photographs of these works are printed and arranged chronologically, blending artistic expression with academic research to highlight women’s cultural significance and their recent exclusion from public life.
Materials such as paper, canvas, wire, and fabric were used while preserving the integrity of the original artworks. Inspired by Persian miniature techniques, the piece features layered, multi-perspective narratives, allowing historical moments to coexist visually. Chronicle serves as both documentation and an artistic statement, aiming to educate viewers on women’s often-overlooked history and their ongoing struggle for visibility and rights in Iran.
